Career Advice - 3 Ways to Create a Portfolio Career

In this article, the portfolio career is defined as revenue or to work from more than one industry or function at the same time. There are two ways to approach -. Have more than one job or business, or find a way to blend their interests

a - Is there a natural or obvious match between the interests of

For example, maybe you love photography, writing and scrapbooking. You can have a job as a photographer, selling everything from fine art photography, stock photos, portreta.Drugi to work as a freelance writer. And yet a third job to a scrapbook store, or teaching classes and selling materials.

Or, start a business as an expert in creating memory books with well written stories and stunning photography. You can create products for people on commission, or you could teach others to do so. Why not both?

Two - What to do if there is congruence between their own interests

You may want to work in the medical field and build boats. So where to start? If you're a practical person, get some kind of medical work that works for you that pays the bills. You can get trained in something like phlebotomy, for example, in six months. Get a LPN in a year. Then, explore how to build boats. But wait, there might be a way to combine those interests after all? Those big ship cruise lines of type, that they need a nurse who also know how to rig the sail? Why not look into it?

Three -. Ok, really, there's just no match between their interests

The best advice here is to actually start one by one.

Let me give an example. I love to travel, so I got a job in aviation (which I'm grateful I still have!). But it's almost two years before I could control my schedule enough to add other interests. Last year, I became an independent contractor for a direct sales company. This year I trained so that I can offer my services as a coach to help other people like me find your best career. Each of these things bring me a combination of benefits, income and happiness.

Finally, this is what this type of portfolio career is all about - not tied to one thing all the time. It's like catnip for the generalist.
